Books and other materials

Lake of Bays Public Libraries will gratefully accept new or current used books and audio-visual materials. Your library resources have been enhanced over the years through the addition of many useful donations. A dedication/presentation bookplate may be placed inside the donated material at your request.

We welcome your donations with the understanding that these materials become the property of the library to be used at our discretion. Donated items are added to the collection, sold at our annual book sale for fundraising, or recycled.

Lake of Bays Public Libraries will be very happy to accept the following materials in new or gently used condition:

- Hardcover and paperback books (adult, children's, fiction & nonfiction)
- Music CDs, Audio Books, Videos & DVDs in original case
- Local History materials

We cannot sell dated, discolored, damaged, musty or mildewed items at our book sales. Our experience tells us that the following items do not sell well:

- Reader's Digest condensed
- Harlequin romances
- Older encyclopedias
- Incomplete sets
- Textbooks
- Computer books more than 2 years old
- Most magazines more than 1 year old

New & used donations may be dropped-off at any time. We maintain small, permanent book sale spaces in each branch.
