October is Dyslexia Awareness Month

Dyslexia affects 5-20% of the population and is the most common cause of difficulties with learning to read, write and spell. Lake of Bays Public Library was recently awarded with a mini-grant from the International Dyslexia Association Ontario (IDA Ontario) for each of the Dwight and Baysville Branches. Each branch received $500 to purchase decodable books and other resources to create a dyslexia-friendly library collection.

Beginning October 1st, the library invites everyone to come by to check out the new collection along with other information for parents and caregivers.

To learn more about Dyslexia and decodable books the IDAOntario Website is a fantastic source of materials. And if you'd like to get involved and join in the reading fun for Read October, please click over to the Read October website.
